Letter: Police association endorses Myhra
To the editor:
It was both discouraging and alarming to read the crime data reported last month by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) in its Uniform Crime Report. Violent crime increased 23.9% in our metro area in just one year! The major categories – murder, aggravated assault, rape, motor vehicle theft, and assaults on police officers – all saw significant increases over the prior year.
Still, it is encouraging to know that those of us in Burnsville and Savage have solutions. The 10,000-plus public safety officers of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association have endorsed Pam Myhra for Senate District 55. Our public safety officers recognize that Pam Myhra is the candidate most equipped to address the unacceptable rise in criminal activity.
Violent crime is on the rise and is impacting our suburban communities. I will be voting for the Senate District 55 candidate that will be part of the solution, Pam Myhra.
